Phenotypeca commences R&D with their synthetic biology platform using baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae).

January 2019

Phenotypeca has started to identify current manufacturing processes where yeast is used, e.g. in food, food additives, enzymes, vaccines, metabolites and recombinant therapeutic protein markets and determine which ones would benefit from the application of Phenotypeca’s emerging technology platform. That is, the production and application of next-generation yeast strains optimised through a combination of advanced yeast breeding, Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) analysis and traditional genetic engineering.

Phenotypeca will follow this with subsequent design and development of research projects to establish targets for the initial specific R&D projects in the laboratory, which will validate the application areas and generate proof of concept data.

In parallel, with this project research activity, we are establishing a robust and unique business model to generate ongoing revenues and Intellectual Property rights, which will enhance the value of our UK-based business and complement our laboratory R&D.
