Phenotypeca commences a second R&D project using baker’s yeast in their synthetic biology platform

October 2019

We are continuing our research to develop a genetically diverse library of baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) strains and stable plasmids for industrial protein production. In this case, we focus on strains that we have selectively bred for the production of biopharmaceutical proteins used for vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostic assays. This involves combining cutting-edge advanced yeast breeding techniques developed in the academic sector by Professor Ed Louis (at the Universities of Nottingham and Leicester), with state-of-the-art yeast industrial molecular biology.
